A partner in Pierce Atwood’s Litigation Practice Group, Byrne has more than 14 years of experience representing clients in courts throughout Northern New England and beyond. Byrne has successfully tried cases in state and federal trial courts in Maine and New Hampshire. He has also successfully handled appeals before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court, the New Hampshire Supreme Court and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. Byrne has a varied trial practice with a primary area of expertise in employee benefits/ERISA/disability insurance defense. Byrne routinely represents employers and insurers in these matters in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, and also provides expertise and assistance in particularly complex cases in federal courts across the nation, including the United States Supreme Court. Byrne has successfully defended cases involving claims for life, health, disability, accidental death and dismemberment, and severance benefits, in both ERISA and non-ERISA contexts. |
