College Career:
The unquestioned leader of the Seminoles’ defense, Davis registered 265 tackles, 26.5 tackles for a loss and eight sacks in 45 career games. Started the last 37 consecutive games at middle linebacker for Florida State.
2006: Earned second-team All-American recognition from the American Football Coaches Association, Walter Camp and The Sporting News, also adding third-team accolades from The NFL Draft Report and Rivals.com and honorable mention from Sports Illustrated as a senior first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference choice while starting all 13 games at middle linebacker, leading the team with a career-high 109 tackles (57 solos) also adding five sacks for minus 50 yards, eight stops for losses of 60 yards and two quarterback pressures had six pass deflections and caused a safety recovered a fumble and caused two others while leading a unit that ranked 18th in the nation in total defense (290.8 ypg) and 12th in rush defense (92.5 ypg).
2005: Started every game at middle linebacker, helping the team rank 14th in the nation in total defense (309.2 ypg), 18th in rush defense (108.3 ypg) and 28th in scoring defense (22.0 ppg) finished second on the squad with 91 tackles (38 solos), making at least 10 tackles in six contests added two sacks for minus 16 yards and 10.5 stops for losses of 29 yards had two pass deflections and recovered one fumble.
2004: Named the team's Most Improved Linebacker while starting the final 11 games at middle linebacker for a team that ranked seventh in the nation in total defense (283.8 ypg), third in rush defense (83.1) and third in scoring defense (14.1 ppg) finished fourth on the team with 60 tackles (28 solos) and eight tackles for losses.
2003: Saw limited action in seven games, recording five tackles (four solos) with one tackle for a loss.
2002: Redshirted as a freshman.

James Buster Davis attended Mainland (Daytona Beach, FL) High School where he was rated one of the nation’s 10 best linebackers by numerous recruiting services as a senior earned USA Today and Super Prep first team All-American honors and was ranked the ninth-best linebacker in the nation by School Sports magazine had over 140 tackles as a senior closed out his prep career with nearly 400 career tackles, recording 101 solo stops while forcing seven fumbles as a junior. |
