Bryce L. Shriver is president of PPL Generation, the subsidiary of PPL Corporation that controls more than 11,000 megawatts of electrical generation capacity at 36 locations in the United States.
Shriver joined PPL in September 1999 as general manager for the Susquehanna plant. He was named vice president-Nuclear Site Operations in January 2000. In May 2002, he became PPL’s top nuclear official as senior vice president and chief nuclear officer. In September 2004, he became president of PPL Generation.
Shriver came to PPL from the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Browns Ferry nuclear plant in Alabama, where he served as assistant plant manager. Previously, he held key management positions during a 16-year career at Virginia Power Co. These positions included manager-Operations and Maintenance, and manager-Nuclear Safety and Licensing, both at Surry Power Station; superintendent-Nuclear Engineering at North Anna Power Station; and director-Corporate Nuclear Safety. Prior to joining Virginia Power, Shriver served as director of the nuclear reactor facility at the University of Virginia. He also was a nuclear power engineer with the U.S. Navy, assigned to the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission’s Division of Naval Reactors.
A native of Belton, Mo., Shriver holds Bachelor of Science and doctorate degrees in metallurgical engineering and a master’s degree in nuclear engineering, all from the University of Missouri at Rolla. He also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Averett College, Danville, Va. |
