Bryan Batson was named senior vice president, external affairs in July 2005. Primary among his responsibilities is executive oversight and coordination of all regulatory matters that impact the company’s regulated utilities: Atlanta Gas Light, Elizabethtown Gas, Florida City Gas, Virginia Natural Gas, Chattanooga Gas and Elkton Gas, as well as oversight of external affairs. In his new role Batson is responsible for ensuring a cohesive strategic focus between all company functions that interface with the company’s various external constituencies. In addition, he also has oversight of promoting the company’s involvement in public policy matters.
Prior to this role, Batson served as vice president, regulatory compliance and affairs, a position he held since June 2002. He has 20 years of professional experience with AGL Resources and has held various positions including division engineer, manager of measurement, Augusta division manager and service center manager.
Batson previously served as director of state regulatory affairs representing the company before the Georgia Public Service Commission.
He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Clemson University and is a registered professional engineer. He also holds a master’s degree in technology management from Mercer University.
Batson has served on a variety of non-profit and industry boards and currently serves as chairman of the board of directors for the American Red Cross Blood Services - Southern Region. He is a graduate of Leadership Atlanta’s class of 2004. |
