Bruce brings twenty years experience in the telecommunications, networking, Internet and computing industries to Cedar Point Communications. Bruce is a director of several private and public companies, including Flarion Technologies, WaterCove Networks, SnowShore Networks, Acopia Networks, Hammerhead Networks and Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq:VRTX). Previously, Bruce served on the boards of American Internet, C-Port, Arrowpoint (Nasdaq:ARPT) and Media 100 (Nasdaq:MDEA). Bruce also currently serves as chairman for the Massachusetts Telecom Council and is a member of the Board and Executive Committee. Bruce brings proven expertise in formulating business strategy, building organizations, and navigating companies to successful outcomes to his investments at Charles River Ventures. Prior to joining Charles River Ventures, Bruce served as executive vice president and general manager of Ascend's (now Lucent Technologies, NASDAQ:LU) Carrier Signaling and Management Group. Bruce joined Ascend in October 1998 through its acquisition of Stratus Computer. At Stratus he served as president and CEO, repositioning the company through the integration of telecom software and services onto its traditional computing foundation. Bruce started his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories and then served as a director of engineering at Memotec/Infinet. In 1989 he joined Xylogics as director of engineering and ultimately became CEO. Bruce lead the company through a dramatic strategy and positioning reformulation, and in 1995, its acquisition by Bay Networks. He went on to serve as an executive vice president of Bay Networks (now a unit of Nortel Networks), completing four acquisitions in his first year and enhancing the company's position in key emerging telecommunications markets. Bruce holds a master of engineering in electrical engineering from Cornell University, an M.B.A. from Northeastern University and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Bucknell University. |
