As senior vice president for Choice Hotels International Inc. (NYSE: CHH) one of the world’s largest hotel franchisors Bruce Haase is responsible for maximizing the operating performance of the company’s franchised properties in international markets identifying strategic partners and overseeing the expansion of Choice’s presence worldwide.
Mr. Haase joined Choice in 2000 as vice president finance and treasurer. In this position he led the company’s capital raising efforts and played a key role in helping the company achieve its strategic initiatives including growth in international markets.
In 2003 he was promoted to his current position as senior vice president international. Under his leadership Choice has successfully leveraged the value proposition of its brands and marketing support to franchisees and master partners internationally and significantly enhanced the presence of its Comfort Quality Clarion and Sleep Inn brands in the world’s major travel markets. As a result the number of Choice properties in international markets has nearly doubled from 785 hotels at the end of the year 2000 to 1 162 at year-end 2005.
Throughout his career Mr. Haase has held key finance and operational positions including positions with Marriott International Caterair International and Goldman Sachs. Immediately prior to joining Choice Mr. Haase served as vice president finance and treasurer for The Ryland Group Inc. one of the nation’s largest homebuilders and leading mortgage-finance company. In this role he led the company's treasury and capital raising efforts in addition to Ryland's investor relations and acquisition functions.
A graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a degree in electrical engineering Mr. Haase also holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a master's degree in business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he concentrated in corporate finance.
