Bruce Budge is a senior managing director in the FTI Forensic and Litigation Consulting practice and is based in Seattle. Mr. Budge has extensive experience in dispute advisory services, financial advisory services, accounting and auditing, financial reporting, expert witness testimony and case consultancies.
Mr. Budge’s dispute advisory experience includes matters involving financial misrepresentations, post-acquisition disputes, breach of contract, negligence, business interruption, patent and trademark infringement, trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract and lender liability. He has performed economic and financial analysis, valuations, investment research and created complex damages analyses involving cost analysis, lost profits, reasonable royalty, customer surveys, sales trend analysis, profit margin analysis, unjust enrichment and natural resource revenue sharing.
Mr. Budge’s industry experience includes wholesale distribution, forest products, manufacturing (including paper, lumber, panel products and food processing, among others), retailing, government, public utilities and healthcare. He has planned, supervised and performed financial statement audits of public and private companies in the forest products, seafood, marine transportation, wholesale distribution, retailing, governmental agencies, financial services, charitable foundations, public utilities and healthcare industries.
Mr. Budge has provided expert witness testimony in federal and state courts throughout the United States for over seventeen years. His most recent cases include Exxon Valdez Oil Spill; Wizards of the Coast Securityholders v. Hasbro, Inc; and Rainier v Schafer Farms. His damages quantification experience involves a wide range of cases going back over 15 years, involving both claim preparation and defense assignments. He has also participated in projects dealing with the detection and prevention of fraud, both as a forensics specialist and as an external auditor of financial statements.
Prior to joining FTI, Mr. Budge was a managing partner of KPMG’s Boise office. Prior to that, he spent three years at Arthur Andersen as an office managing partner and eleven as a division head. Earlier in his career he was financial control manager for K2 Corporation.
Mr. Budge holds a B.S. degree in business from the University of Idaho. He is a certified public accountant in Idaho, Oregon and Alaska and has passed all four examinations in Business Valuations of the American Society of Appraisers. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Licensing Executive Society and Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he has served as a member of the Professional Conduct Committee and as Chairman of the Forest Products Committee. He has been active on advisory boards for several business schools, including Seattle University, University of Washington (Economics) and Boise State University.
Mr. Budge’s civic involvement has included service as an executive board member of the United Way of Treasure Valley, as a district chair for the Chief Seattle Council of the Boy Scouts of America, as a finance committee member of AIDS Housing of Washington and Catholic Charities of Idaho and in various volunteer positions for other organizations. |
