Bruce Bickner was the Chariman and C.E.O of DEKALB Genetics prior to orchestrating the company’s sale to Monsonto Company in 1988. DEKALB Genetics was engaged in agricultural genetics and biotechnology for seed and swine. Under his leadership, DEKALB became a leader in intellectual property with respect to corn plant transformation and biotech traits. After the acquisition, Bruce joined Monsanto as Executive Vice President where his most recent responsiblies included global strategy with respect to industry competitors and affiliates. His other business experience includes chairman and chief executive officer of DEKALB Energy company (North American oil and gas exploration and production), chairman and chief executive officer of Pride Oil Well Services, Inc. (oil and gas well servicing), chairman of Heinold Commodities, Inc. (commodity futures brokerage), chairman of Heinold Hog Markets, Inc. (live hog brokerage) and chairman of Lindsay Manufacturing Company (irrigation equipment). Bruce currently also serves as a corporate director of Nicor, Inc. (gas distribution) and PlantGenix, Inc. (plant biotechnology). Prior to entering business management, he was a partner in the Chicago law practice of Sidley and Austin, specializing in antitrust litigation and other commercial matters. He received his undergraduate degree in political science from DePauw University (Greencastle, IN) in 1965 and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School (Ann Arbor, MI) in 1968. |
