Bruce Engler is chair of the mergers & acquisitions practice group. He is a partner in the firm’s Minneapolis office.Mergers and Acquisitions Bruce has represented buyers, sellers and institutional investors in many different types of public and private transactions. He has been lead counsel for scores of significant M&A transactions with aggregate transaction values totaling billions of dollars. Leveraged Buyouts Bruce has developed substantial expertise in representing private equity investors in the purchase of companies in leveraged buyouts. He started representing institutional investors in leveraged buyouts in the early 1980’s when these transactions were just developing as a mainstream acquisition technique. Building on that early experience, he has expanded his private equity M&A practice and experience over the past 20 years to accumulate extensive experience dealing with the many complex structuring, financing, securities and tax issues that accompany the purchase of a company in a leveraged buyout. Public Securities Offerings Bruce has also had primary or significant responsibility for over 45 underwritten public offerings of debt and equity securities in his career. The total offering price of these securities exceeds $4 billion. Interview on CNBCBruce Engler was featured Monday, August 6 on CNBC's Power Lunch during a segment titled, Banks Balk on Bad Buyouts. Engler was asked to comment on the current turmoil in the debt markets and its effect on pending private equity M&A deals including the impact to private equity firm sponsors and the lenders who agreed to finance the deals.
