Bruce Yonehiro is Of Counsel in the firm's San Francisco office. His practice focuses on energy industry issues and other complex commercial transactions.
Mr. Yonehiro joined the firm after serving as Acting General Counsel and Deputy Secretary for the California Resources Agency, where he advised the Secretary and the Governor's office on a broad range of important legal and public policy issues affecting the state's natural resources, including A.B.32 (the California Global Warming Solutions Act), CEQA, liquefied natural gas, river restorations, endangered species, water storage and supply, and responding to fires, floods, and other natural disasters.
Prior to that, Mr. Yonehiro served as special counsel to the Governor's Legal Affairs Secretary and lead staff counsel to the Department of Water Resources, California Energy Resources Scheduling division, where he helped manage and renegotiate an energy portfolio worth over 40 billion dollars and helped California recover from the 2001 energy crisis.
From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Yonehiro was General Counsel, Vice President and Secretary of Infogrames North America, Inc., where he led the company through mergers with GT Interactive and Hasbro Interactive to form the new ATARI.
From 1989 to 1999, Mr. Yonehiro was a commercial transactions associate and senior counsel with Pillsbury, Madison and Sutro, llp where his practice focused on energy and technology transactions.
Education
Mr. Yonehiro graduated from the University of Minnesota (B.S. 1984; J.D. 1989).
