Mr. Plotkin is a Shareholder in Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck. As head of the firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Group, Mr. Plotkin helps corporate and not-for-profit clients identify, understand, safeguard and leverage their organizations’ technology as it relates to intellectual property assets. Mr. Plotkin has played a leadership role in numerous intellectual property and technology-related transactions. For example, he developed an unconventional licensing strategy to replace a proposed joint venture between a California-based provider of interactive exhibits to museums and a foreign institution. The agreement allowed the client (the provider) to leverage the foreign market and maintain the same revenue stream without putting at risk ownership or protection of proprietary designs. Mr. Plotkin also managed the development and implementation of a relationship strategy for an international ticketing and concession software company. The strategy helped the company leverage the value of all intellectual property assets through clients and joint-venture partners. A frequent speaker on subjects related to technology and the law, Mr. Plotkin has discussed intellectual property developments at seminars around the country. He has been an adjunct professor in intellectual property at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law since 1996. He teaches core courses in copyright, trademark and patent law, as well as special seminars on intellectual property and technology. He is also a regular faculty member at Sequoia Professional Development’s annual Counseling High Tech Clients seminar, where he presents on the latest developments in copyright and trademark law and discusses critical issues in technology agreements. |
