Bruce Collier earned his Ph.D. in accounting at Oklahoma State University and taught governmental accounting, auditing, managerial accounting, and accounting information systems for over 20 years at Oklahoma State University, Texas Tech University, The University of Texas at El Paso and Eastern New Mexico University. He became a CPA in 1979. In 1991 he completed the AICPA's Certificate of Education Achievement in Governmental Accounting and Auditing. Dr. Bruce Collier's manuals, Texas School District Accounting and Auditing Update, Advanced Texas School District Auditing, and An Introduction to Texas School District Accounting and Auditing have been used by Texas school district accountants and auditors since 1979. Dr. Bruce Collier was a consultant to the Financial Accounting Standards Board in 1973 when he helped draft the Discussion Memorandum that later became FASB Statement Number 3. He has served on several advisory committees for the Texas Education Agency and several school districts in Texas. He was a consultant for the Texas Association of School Business Officials from 1995-200l. As the owner of Education Management Information Systems, he continues to prepare and present continuing education programs related to financial reporting and compliance with state and federal laws, regulations and contractual provisions. |
