Experience:
Bruce Bedwell practices in the area of state and local government law, representing public sector and private sector clients in a wide array of transactional, legislative and regulatory matters.
Bruce has extensive experience in complex government transactions, particularly with respect to public-private partnerships in the infrastructure sector. Bruce played a key role in the $603 million Northwest Parkway concession and lease transaction, which received the 2007 Project Finance North American Transport Deal of the Year Award, and has worked extensively on the potential lease of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. In addition to his toll road experience, Bruce has played a principal role in the lease of the La Quinta container shipping terminal, the first greenfield port project of its kind in the United States. Bruce also has advised clients on lottery privatization transactions.
In addition to his infrastructure privatization work, Bruce has represented governmental and private clients on a variety of matters, including procurement issues, construction contracts, operation and maintenance contracts, swap agreements, repurchase agreements, complex investment transactions, municipal finance compliance issues and economic incentive packages. Bruce also advises the Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois, Inc. on a variety of corporate and not-for-profit matters. Prior to joining Mayer Brown in 2006, Bruce advised clients in the energy industry on both regulatory and transactional matters.

Counsel to the Northwest Parkway Public Highway Authority in the $603 million concession and lease of the Northwest Parkway in Colorado with Brisa Auto-estradas de Portugal, S.A. and Companhia de Concessões Rodoviárias.
Advising the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on the proposed long-term concession and lease of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Advising the Port of Corpus Christi Authority on the proposed development and long-term lease of the La Quinta Trade Gateway Container Terminal, the first greenfield port project of its kind in the United States.
Advised private-sector bidder with respect to the proposed privatizations of the Illinois Lottery and the Indiana Lottery, the first proposed lottery privatization transactions in the United States.
Advised the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County regarding the renegotiation of its operation and maintenance agreement for its solid waste transfer facility and with respect to the reconstruction of its transfer facility.
Advised Indiana charitable trust in connection with its purchase of and investment in $100,000,000 notes linked to the performance of a certain fund.
Represented private-sector corporation with respect to the negotiation of an economic incentive package with the Iowa Department of Economic Development.
Represented private-sector bidder with respect to a procurement protest before the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
