Brook M. Carey is an associate attorney in the firm’s Naperville office. That office handles litigation in numerous collar counties, including DuPage, Will, Kane, Kendall, Grundy, DeKalb, LaSalle, Kankakee, Winnebago and others. Her practice is concentrated in the areas of premises liability, products liability, municipalities and medical malpractice insurance. Additionally, Ms. Carey has also participated in zoning issues for individuals, developers, and large corporations, including attendance at public hearings, preparation of applications, and insuring compliance with the requirements of the Illinois Municipal Code. Her work in this area has also included negotiation of recapture fees, obtaining waivers for conditions contained in restrictive covenants, and negotiating resolutions to complex title issues. These title issues have included easements for public utilities and FEMA floodplain re-mapping. Additionally, Ms. Brook has drafted memorandum and performed extensive research on behalf of clients seeking advisory opinions on the issues of roadway impact fees, annexation, and boundary agreements. While a law student at Loyola, Ms. Carey was a senior member of the Loyola Law Journal, as well as senior editor and a published author of the Consumer Law Review. Additionally at Loyola she participated in the City of Chicago Board of Education Consumer Education Program where she drafted curriculum to be implemented in the Chicago Public Schools. While at Lewis University, Ms. Carey served as the student representative to the University’s Board of Trustees Business and Finance Committees. |
