Briggs Ferguson is President Internet for Idearc Inc. (NYSE: IAR)
Ferguson is responsible for Idearc's advanced Internet-based local search products including Superpages.com® Switchboard.com LocalSearch.com and a broad array of search engine marketing website development and management and Internet advertising programs. He also oversees critical components of Idearc's continuing evolution to a multi-product multi-platform advertising solutions provider dedicated to linking buyers and advertisers in the ways that they want to be connected.
Prior to his appointment at Idearc Ferguson served from 2002 to 2007 as chief executive officer for Citysearch a unit of IAC/InterActive Corp. based in Pasadena Calif. that provides local search services organized around specific municipalities and presented as an online lifestyle guide. During that time Ferguson developed the first pay-for-performance local search model managed multiple acquisitions and developed world-class search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) practices.
From 2000 to 2002 Ferguson served as executive vice president of marketing and product strategy for California-based Launch Media the nation's number-one music website which was acquired by Yahoo! in 2001. Before that he was with EMI Music from 1991 to 2000 serving in several increasingly responsible marketing product and general management positions in Los Angeles and New York City. From 1988 to 1991 he was an associate consultant with Boston-based Bain & Company one of the nation's top strategic consulting firms.
A native of Mt. Kisco N.Y. Ferguson earned a bachelor of liberal arts degree in 1987 followed by a bachelor of science in electrical engineering in 1988 both from Dartmouth College. |
