In his 14th season with the Falcons organization, Brian Xanders serves as a fundamental contributor in player personnel, salary cap management, and football operations. He enters his second football season as the primary contract negotiator and administrator of all salary cap initiatives, after spending 4 years as the operator/analyst. For pro personnel, he evaluates unrestricted free agents, analyzes short-list players, and cross-check evaluations. For the NFL Draft, he performs college scouting visits and evaluates assigned positions of need.
Before he moved primarily into player personnel, Brian served in multiple cross-functional areas for the Falcons. His experience includes salary cap management/negotiations (six years), coaching staff: offense/defense/special teams (five years), player personnel evaluations (eleven years), information technology (five years), and business management (two years).
Xanders was a member of the coaching staff that helped the team advance to their only Super Bowl (XXXIII) at the conclusion of the 1998 season (24-5 record over 29 games). In 2005, he was selected by the Falcons to attend the NFL/Stanford Graduate School of Business Program on Management. In addition, he has given speeches at multiple universities on labor economics, football administration and player personnel issues.
Xanders, 36, played for Bobby Bowden at Florida State as a middle linebacker and was a member of four bowl-winning teams, compiling a record of 42-7 during his career. He received All-ACC academic honors at FSU and graduated with a Master's degree in business administration (MBA) and a Bachelors of Science degree in business management. He volunteers his time with Hands on Atlanta and Habitat for Humanity in the off-season.
