He is particularly adept at identifying performance improvement opportunities that may have been previously overlooked and managing client relationships to implement changes successfully.

Prior to joining Huron Brian was a Senior Vice President at Wellspring Partners now a Huron Consulting Group Practice. Prior to joining Wellspring Partners Brian was Principal with Channon & Associates and Senior Manager responsible for the Midwest region health care operations consulting practice for Coopers & Lybrand. Before that he served Premier Hospital Alliance as Vice President and Unihealth America as the Director of Operations Improvement.

Led major system-wide productivity improvement efforts to improve operating margins by $20 000 000 in over 30 hospitals
Implemented plans at 12 hospitals to rationalize inpatient bed use as the means to drive improved operating margins
Led review of corporate office functions at a major group of hospitals to lower cost by $7 000 000
Developed zero-based review of non-benchmarked departments to lower cost by $5 000 000
Developed merger and integration plans for nine hospitals
Led efforts to grow virtual bed capacity and improve patient flow which incorporated reductions in length of stay more timely bed placement improved bed turnover and E.D. redesign to improve throughput
Led process redesign projects to improve patient flow in the E.D. integrate Mom-Baby services redesign and integrate Social Services Medical Records and Case Management functions and speed up ancillary results turnaround times
Analyzed and documented the economic benefits associated with a three-hospital merger in a highly competitive marketplace. Report was prepared to defend against anti-trust challenge.
Conducted in-depth analyses of emergency departments utilizing computer simulation modeling to identify the proper mix of resources and changes in flow and work design required to reduce delays and improve patient throughput.
