Brian Berry is a communications expert who truly enjoys the mix of politics and PR that thrives in Washington, DC. He offers his clients diverse experience in the public affairs, corporate, non-government and international practice areas. Since joining the CLS team in 2000, he has planned and executed campaigns for some of CLS’ most prominent clients, including the Better World Campaign, the United Nations Foundation, Zenith Electronics Corporation, the NAACP, the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, DaVita, Inc., and the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus. Today, he works with the Personal Watercraft Industry Association, Genworth Financial’s Mortgage Insurance Company, and Genworth Financial’s Long Term Care Insurance Company. For the Personal Watercraft Industry Association, Mr. Berry leads CLS’ strategic campaign communicating the remarkable technological improvements achieved by the personal watercraft industry to produce cleaner and quieter watercraft. Retained when personal watercraft were first banned from America’s national parks, Mr. Berry has been intimately involved at the federal, state, and grassroots levels in the effort to restore personal watercraft access to public lands enjoyed by millions of people. Serving as an industry spokesperson as needed to the media, he has appeared on television and has been interviewed by radio stations and newspapers nationwide. Genworth Financial, Inc. is one of CLS’ most prominent clients. In the case of Genworth’s mortgage insurance division, Berry works on a public affairs campaign seeking to enact federal legislation that will make the cost of mortgage insurance tax deductible for first-time, lower income and minority home buyers. For the long term care insurance business, he is working to raise awareness about Genworth’s position as the marketplace leader, and about the critical need for federal lawmakers to develop a comprehensive long term care strategy for the nation. Mr. Berry lives in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife, Danette. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the State University of New York (SUNY) College at New Paltz and has studied at the Universidad de Oviedo in Spain. |
