Mr. Burchett, a shareholder and member of the firm's Executive Committee, practices in general civil litigation and has represented individuals and various types of businesses in a broad range of litigation matters. Although he has successfully defended many litigation matters, his practice is particularly oriented toward the representation of plaintiffs. He has extensive trial experience in all types of personal injury litigation, including cases involving product liability and medical malpractice. He has also handled complex business and employment litigation, and has particular expertise in business torts, technology and consumer matters. Prior to joining Sullivan Hill, Mr. Burchett practiced in Chicago and northwest Indiana with Foss, Schuman & Drake and Cohen, Starck & Burchett, where he represented clients in the areas of business and tort litigation, criminal defense and real estate transactions. He also served as general counsel for the Northwest Indiana Board of Realtors. Mr. Burchett is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association's Legislation and Community Service Committees, the American Trial Lawyers' Association, Consumer Attorneys of California, and Consumer Attorneys of San Diego. He is a former Barrister in the Enright Chapter of the American Inns of Court, and has lectured frequently on trial preparation and practice. He is a member of the Illinois, Indiana and California Bars, and is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Courts throughout the Midwest, California and Arizona. |
