Brian Ussery provides counseling and litigation services to both public and private sector employers in all matters of employment law and traditional labor relations. Brian has experience representing clients before state and federal courts in Florida, as well as numerous administrative agencies, including the NLRB, the Florida Public Employees Relations Commission, the EEOC and the Florida Commission on Human Relations, among many others. Brian provides counseling to employers on various issues related to human resources, including employee hiring, discipline, discharge, and leave issues and advises clients on matters under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the National Labor Relations Act and other federal and state employment laws.
Brian is admitted to practice before all Florida state courts and before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern District of Florida, and is a member of the Florida Bar and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. He is a deacon at Bayshore Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida, and a member of the University of Tampa Athletic Hall of Fame.
Brian is very active in providing management education, and has provided numerous seminars to various employers and trade organizations throughout Florida. Brian's article, "Guidelines for an Effective Cross-Examination" has been published in the ALI/ABA's The Practical Litigator magazine and in the Florida Bar Labor and Employment Section's monthly magazine, The Checkoff. Brian is a monthly contributor to the Florida Independent Concrete Association's Down the Chute magazine. In law school, Brian was a recipient of the FSU College of Law Book Award in Workers' Compensation and was also a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Society. Brian is a former minor league baseball player for the California Angels, and was a member of the University of Tampa 1993 National Championship Baseball team.
