Bret Schaefer is the Vice President of Shareholder Value Finance. Bret reports to Michael Lehman Executive Vice President Corporate Resources and Chief Financial Officer. In this role Bret has responsibility for Investor Relations and Finance business partnering to Product Business Units Marketing and Corporate Resources.
Previous to his current role Bret held the position of Vice President of Finance for the Global Sales Organization with responsibility for finance oversight across deal management revenue management revenue recognition financial planning sales compensation and Sarbanes Oxley Internal Controls for all financial processes in the field. Bret has also served as the Vice President of Finance for World Wide Operations responsible for the finance support across Sun's manufacturing and distribution activities worldwide.
In his 14 years at Sun Bret has also held a broad range of Finance and operational positions that addressed Internal Audit Software Operations and Engineering and Sales and Marketing. As the Finance and Sales Operations Director for the Computer Systems business in Southern Europe Africa and the Middle East Bret built the financial management and legal entity structure for this $1 billion selling unit. In his role as Controller for Sales Operations he lead the field implementation of global financial processes for Credit Foreign Exchange Forecasting Financial Flash Sales Compensation and nonstandard Transaction Management.
Prior to Sun Bret spent nine years with Price Waterhouse where he primarily responsible for auditing large multinational companies out of the San Francisco office along with spending two years in London in both audit and management consulting roles.
Bret received his Bachelors in History from the University of Chicago in 1979 and his MBA from the same institution in 1982.
He is a member of the AICPA and CSCPA societies. |
