Brent Smolik is president of El Paso Exploration and Production Company. In this capacity, he is responsible for El Paso’s E&P operations as well as the company’s remaining non regulated businesses, principally marketing and trading.
Smolik joined El Paso on November 1, 2006. He was previously president of ConocoPhillips Canada and prior to the Burlington Resources merger with ConocoPhillips, he was president of Burlington Resources Canada beginning in 2004.
He joined Burlington Resources in 1990 as a reservoir engineer and subsequently held Engineering and Asset Management positions in the Denver, Offshore Gulf of Mexico, San Juan, and Gulf Coast regions. His experiences across North America include operations, reserve reporting, and Acquisitions & Divestitures. He began his career with ARCO in Houston where he held several drilling and reservoir engineering positions.
Smolik received a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1983.
He is a registered professional engineer in Texas, serves as a member of the American Exploration and Production Council, and serves on the board of The Center for Hearing and Speech. He is affiliated with the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers, and the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. |
