Brendan G. Best is an associate in the Bloomfield Hills office of Dykema. Mr. Best is a member of the Bankruptcy Practice Group. He represents and advises debtors, secured creditors, automotive manufacturers, suppliers, and other creditors in bankruptcy litigation, general bankruptcy proceedings, and workouts. Mr. Best also represents a diverse array of clients in debtor/creditor and general commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts as well as in corporate finance transactions, focusing on secured transaction issues.

In re Pine River Plastics, Inc. (Bankr. E.D. Mich. 2007) (counsel for debtor in possession): drafted and argued first day pleadings; lead associate attorney on all aspects of case, including DIP financing, sales of assets, and negotiations with lessors and other parties in interest.
In re Rowe Companies (Bankr. N.D. Va. 2006) (counsel for major vendor / consignor): negotiated cash collateral agreement with debtor to permit sale of remaining goods in Chapter 11 asset sale; coordinated pre-petition claim and delivery litigation in three states, successfully securing over $4 million in goods.
In re Collins & Aikman, et al. (Bankr. E.D. Mich. 2005) (local counsel for pre- and post-petition lenders): drafted pleadings, prepared memoranda on issues impacting secured creditors.
In re UniBoring (Bankr. E.D. Mich. 2005) (counsel for multiple suppliers and equipment lessors): drafted and argued successful motion to dissolve temporary restraining order; drafted and argued multiple successful limited objections to proposed sale order.
In re PLC Novi West, LLC (Bankr. E.D. Mich. 2004) (counsel for secured lenders): confirmed successful lender-proposed plan of liquidation in shopping mall Chapter 11 case and closed $50 million sale of property pursuant to the plan.
In re Oxford Automotive, et. al. (Bankr. E.D. Mich. 2004) (special corporate counsel for debtors in possession): drafted asset purchase agreements and motions to sell three large manufacturing facilities and equipment.
Represent major telecommunications company, deposed fact witness, coordinated discovery, assisted in drafting motion for summary judgment in $300 million adversary proceeding.
Represent major regional lender in multiple workouts of mid-sized manufacturers and other businesses, with primary role in negotiating and drafting forbearance and other agreements.
Represent major national title insurance company as regional bankruptcy counsel in dozens of adversary proceedings defending insured mortgage lenders.
