Bratin Roy is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery UK LLP, based in its London office. He is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department, where he has experience across the full range of IP and a particular interest in contentious matters relating to IT, electronics, telecommunications and new media. Bratin has a degree in Physics, which aids him on the technical aspects of such matters, and is also a solicitor advocate.
Bratin has advised on a number of UK and international disputes relating to patents, copyright, designs and confidential information, and also has experience of EPO opposition proceedings. His recent experience includes involvement in High Court patent actions concerning oilfield equipment and mobile phones. He has also worked on a number of matters involving competition law, both stand-alone and in conjunction with IP rights.
He also advises on other matters relating to IT, electronics and telecommunications, including outsourcing disputes, and on the regulatory aspects of electrical and electronic equipment.

Advising on several multinational patent litigations relating to mobile phones, optical disc technology, microchips and oilfield equipment.
Defending an application for pre-action disclosure in respect of alleged competition law abuses.
Advising on an employee-inventor compensation dispute in the field of medical diagnostics.
Providing advice on one of the first successfully registered producer take-back schemes under the WEEE Directive in the UK.
Coordinating a global product clearance exercise and trade mark enforcement proceedings for a computer games manufacturer.
