Bob Owen, who currently serves as a consultant and full-time scout in Western Canada, helped build the Thrashers franchise as the team's director of player evaluation and development for nearly five years from 1998 to 2003 During his tenure in Atlanta, Owen has been involved in all player-related personnel decisions and instituted the team's annual summer prospect camp program Owen, who owns a wealth of scouting expertise, serves as a full-time scout based in Kelowna, British Columbia, and also consults with team management on player-related personnel decisions Prior to joining the Thrashers on Aug. 10, 1998, Owen established RHO Hockey North America's first independent professional scouting service in 1995 RHO Hockey's list of clients included the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, Nashville Predators, the AHL's Chicago Wolves and four teams from the former International Hockey League Owen spent 10 years with the Los Angeles Kings organization from 1984-1994 before starting his own business Owen served in many capacities during his tenure with the Kings, including scout, 1984-88; director of amateur scouting, 1988-90; director of scouting and development, 1990-92, and director of player personnel and player development, 1992-94 From 1980-84, Owen served as a scout for the NHL's Central Scouting Service, concentrating mainly in western North America Owen, a native of Regina, Saskatchewan, and his wife, Evelyn, reside in Kelowna, British Columbia |
