Bob Neal returns to Turner Sports to be the Hawks' play-by-play announcer for games this season on the PAX Network and Turner South.
Neal has been a familiar voice for Turner on its national NBA coverage on TNT and TBS telecasts for 18 years.
Neal's resume also includes work for TNT and TBS on the PGA Championship, PGA Grand Slam of Golf, Southeastern Conference college football and World Cup soccer. He has also provided play by play for the NBA and college football on NBC.
He was the radio voice of the Atlanta Falcons from 1975-81 and 1995-97.
His studio hosting experience includes the Goodwill Games (1986), Football Saturday, a weekly college football show, and TNT's Sunday night NFL broadcasts (1992-94). Neal began his association with Turner Sports in 1977, hosting Sports Week, a Sunday night sports show on TBS.
Neal has earned five Georgia Area Emmys and three Associated Press Awards for the best play-by-play sportscasting in Georgia. Neal shared in five national Emmys for his role in the Turner Goodwill Games telecasts.
Currently, he can be heard frequently on sports radio station 790 The Zone (WQXI) and Comcast Sports Southeast.
His son Dave is also a sportscaster with Fox Sports South and is the voice of SEC football on Jefferson Pilot. Born November 14, 1942 in Morristown, Tennessee, Neal and his wife Sally reside in Smyrna. |
