Dr. Algozzine earned his doctorate from The Pennsylvania State University in 1975, joining the faculty there that same year and moving to the University of Florida in 1977. During his 10-year tenure at UF, he served in various teaching, research, and service capacities, including Behavior Disorders Program Coordinator. Since 1987, he has been a faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte serving as Coordinator of the Research Program in the Department of Educational Leadership and Research Mentor for the faculty in the College of Education. Dr. Algozzine is widely known for his research on effective teaching practices in the area of behavior disorders and critical issues in the field of special education. He has been a featured speaker at local, state, national, and international professional conferences and has conducted professional development workshops for general and special education teachers across the country. |
