Billy J. Smith joined the firm as an associate from Miller Alfano & Raspanti. Billy has a broad civil litigation practice, with experience in complex commercial disputes, employment matters, government investigations and white collar criminal matters, including:
Representing a national communications company regarding cable franchising and federal preemption issues;
Representing and counseling various employers regarding labor and employment issues including compliance with Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Family and Medical Leave Act;
Experience drafting, analyzing and negotiating commercial contracts; and
Appellate advocacy
Prior to entering into private practice, Billy served the citizens of Philadelphia County as an assistant district attorney. Billy concluded his service to Philadelphia as a member of the Special Narcotics Prosecution Unit having tried hundreds of trials involving a myriad of alleged offenses ranging from drug trafficking to attempted murder.
In General. Billy graduated with distinction from Franklin Pierce Law School in 1999. While there, he served as a member of the Appellate Defender Program where he assisted indigent criminal defendants exercise their appellate rights. Billy also served as president of the Multi-Cultural Law Students Association.
Billy is currently a member of the National, American and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Barrister’s Association. |
