Since the mid-'90s, Bill has been involved with the development of business on the internet. Orcas Net, Inc. materialized from this new focus. Bill has long believed that the internet is the environment in which most computerized commerce will be processed and that the utilization of the internet for both product and information distribution has only just begun. He is excited about this opportunity to blend his expertise in information management and systems development with the new technologies emerging on the cyber frontier. Bill has been self-employed since 1970. His background, up until the mid 70's, was in wholesale distribution. His entry into the computer field occurred when he computerized his company, Irvine Fasteners, in 1976. That successful implementation marked the start of Bill's love affair with computers and the beginning of a new career for him. He sold his fastener business and immersed himself in the software industry. For the next 15 years Bill and his partner operated Laguna Software, developing an integrated distribution software package and communication system. Laguna Software's customer list included companies like Campbell Soup, the Red Lion Hotel chain, the London Underground Railroad, and Gaines Pet Foods. |
