Bill Sheriff joined Brookdale Senior Living as Co-Chief Executive Officer in July, 2006 through the merger of American Retirement Corporation with Brookdale. He served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Retirement Corporation (ARC) from April of 1984 until the time of the merger. Bill was recruited to ARC by the founders of the company with the long range goal of creating a leader in the retirement living industry.
Prior to ARC, Bill served in a number of management positions with Ryder Systems, Inc., including President and Chief Executive Officer of its Truckstops of America division. He joined Ryder when he merged the family owned businesses with Ryder. Under Bill's leadership, his division became the nation's largest owned and operated chain of full service truckstops.
Bill received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from New Mexico State University. He serves on the Board of Directors for a number of organizations including Belmont University.
