Bill Nighan is a venture capitalist with Incubic, a fund that helps entrepreneurs build great and lasting technology companies. Bill has placed several hundred million dollars of high tech products in the field. He built and led the engineering teams that developed all of Spectra-Physics Lasers (SPL) solid-state and fiber laser products, as Director of Engineering and Advanced Research from 1993 until 1999. He invented the multiple award-winning "Millennia", the most successful laser product in SPL history. From 1990 to 1993 at the Carl Zeiss Laser Technology Center, a Zeiss-funded start-up, he managed development and gained FDA clearance for medical devices including new surgical laser products and handpieces.
Bill graduated from Brown University with a Sc.B. (Honors) and earned his Ph.D. degree from Princeton University in the EE Semiconductor Device Program. |
