Vice President Bill Nicholson leads PGE's Customers and Economic Development division where he oversees PGE's Key Customers Economic Development General Business and Residential Market Management Customer Research and Analysis and Customer Energy Resources which includes product and service development distributed resources retail renewables and demand side initiatives.
Nicholson was named vice president in May 2007. He joined PGE in 1980 as an engineer at the Trojan Nuclear Plant and quickly advanced to management positions at Trojan. During his 27 years with PGE he has served in a variety of capacities including project manager for PGE's Resource Development and general manager of Engineering for PGE's power plants. In 2002 Nicholson moved to the distribution side of PGE's business serving as general manager of PGE's Western Region Line Operations centered in Washington County. He has also participated in company-wide initiatives relating to customer service and communications.
Nicholson has served on the boards of a number of community organizations including current service on the board of Earth Advantage an Oregon-based nonprofit that promotes sustainability and conservation by helping builders apply green-building principles.
A registered professional engineer Nicholson belongs to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
He earned a bachelor of science degree in nuclear engineering from Oregon State University in 1980 and has successfully completed the Harvard University Program on Negotiation the Utility Executive program from the University of Idaho and the American Leadership Forum where he serves as a senior fellow.
