Bill DeKraker begins his seventh season as a member of the Cardinals’ scouting staff and his 11th season in the NFL. His primary area of responsibility is scouting schools in the eastern region. Prior to joining the Cardinals in 2000, Dekraker spent three seasons in the scouting department with the Carolina Panthers.
While with Carolina, DeKraker worked on draft preparation, attended workouts, and updated a new pro personnel computer program for the Panthers.
Prior to his time in Carolina, DeKraker worked at Indiana University as a recruiting assistant where he took part in organizing recruiting visits, and worked with professional scouts visiting the school.
DeKraker also served in the scouting department for the Washington Redskins from December 1995-January, 1997. His responsibilities in Washington included reviewing videos of draft prospects, charting plays during games, assisting with film breakdown, and coordinating training camp.
Before his time with the Redskins, DeKraker, a 1995 graduate of Old Dominion with a bachelor’s degree in sports management, served in a variety of capacities with the Hampton Roads Sharks minor league football team and the National Hockey League’s Washington Capitals. He also worked in the promotions department of the Bowie Baysox, a minor league affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles and coached football at Catholic High School in Virginia Beach, Va.
