Bertram E. Snyder has provided legal services to the maritime, admiralty and transportation industries for more than 40 years. He has counseled vessel owners in acquisitions, dispositions, and financing transactions, as well as institutional lenders with vessel financing. Bert assists his clients in navigating the legal nuances of an industry filled with special regulations and restrictions. Bert was born in Staunton, Virginia. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1959, served as a line officer in the Navy from 1959 to 1961, and graduated from the University of Virginia Law School in 1964. After being with the Department of Justice's Admiralty and Shipping Section from 1964 to 1967, he moved to Boston to become an associate with Bingham, Dana & Gould. He has been a partner at Looney & Grossman since 1985. He is a member of the Virginia and Massachusetts Bars. On a pro hac vice basis, he has represented clients, primarily in admiralty matters, in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Alabama and Louisiana.Bert is a member of the Boston, Massachusetts, and Virginia Bar Associations and the Maritime Law Association of the United States. He was co-author of "Secured Transactions and Admiralty Law," 3 UCC Law Journal, No. 4, Spring, 1981, and "The Trade or Commerce Clause in Chapter 93A," Boston Bar Journal January/February 1995. |
