Bert N. Mitchell is the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Mitchell & Titus. He is also the visionary behind the firm's membership with Ernst & Young Global Limited. Distinguished service has characterized Bert's 40-plus years in the accounting profession. He has served as president of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, chairman of the New York State Board of Accountancy, member of the board and the governing council of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), president of the Accountants Club of America, and co-founder and chairman of the National Association of Minority CPA Firms. He has also served on the Commissioner's Advisory Group of the Internal Revenue Service.
His activities in community service and education include directorships with the Greater New York Fund/United Way, One Hundred Black Men, Inc., and more than a dozen other not-for-profit organizations. He also served on the advisory board for the School of Accountancy at the University of Southern California and on the visiting committee of Harvard University's School of Business.
Bert earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration from Baruch College of the City University of New York. Notably, he is also a graduate of Harvard Business School's Owner/President Management Program and is a recipient of its Distinguished Alumni award. In addition, Bert has authored more than 50 articles on accounting and business management that have been featured in various trade publications.
He has received numerous honors and awards, including four honorary doctorate degrees and the Gold Medal for Distinguished Service from the AICPA. |
