Bernd Matthes was named president and general manager of BorgWarner Transmission Systems and a vice president of BorgWarner Inc. in July 2005. Previously he was vice president of European operations for BorgWarner Transmission Systems and general manager for BorgWarner DualTronic. He has also served as managing director Europe for BorgWarner Transmission Systems and dual clutch systems program manager. He joined BorgWarner in 1993 as chief engineer at the BorgWarner Transmission Systems Heidelberg plant.
Before joining BorgWarner Dr. Matthes was a research scientist in tribology at the Institute of Materials Science Technical University Darmstadt Germany.
Dr. Matthes’ academic background includes a master’s degree and doctorate both in mechanical engineering from Technical University in Darmstadt Germany. He is a member of the Board of Directors of NSK-Warner and BorgWarner Transmission Systems-Korea. |
