Dr. Bernard Ross is a co-founder and Chairman Emeritus of Exponent Inc. He specializes in accident reconstruction heavy equipment failure analysis crane and aviation accident investigation mechanical and structural system assessment and product design. His areas of expertise include solid mechanics stress analysis vibration dynamics and impact studies fracture mechanics shock and wave propagation and stability analysis. Dr. Ross has drawn upon this background in completing a variety of research projects and investigations dealing with agricultural industrial and construction machinery failures the buckling of cylindrical shells column instability modeling high-speed ground transportation studies projectile impact penetration of sea ice and armor and ice-hydraulic structure interaction. Prior to founding Failure Analysis Associates Dr. Ross held several positions with Stanford University and currently serves the university as a Consulting Professor in the School of Engineering. He travels all over the world lecturing on the topic of failure analysis and accident investigation. Dr. Ross received his Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Aeronautical Engineering from Stanford University and his B.M.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University. Dr. Ross was a Visiting Professor in the Graduate School of Civil Engineering Santa Clara University from 1970 to 1978. Dr. Ross is a registered mechanical engineer in the state of California. |
