Benton is a versatile trial lawyer with wide-ranging experience defending all types of tort and complex litigation in State and Federal courts and arbitrations. His current practice focuses on litigating construction, product liability, insurance and commercial disputes. Benton's substantial trial experience has included the defense of insurers, sureties, corporations, physicians, nursing homes, HMOs, tobacco companies, and attorneys in lawsuits involving allegations of bad faith, product liability, professional malpractice, premises liability and commercial torts. His appellate experience has resulted in the publication of nine opinions covering a variety of complex legal issues. Benton has also successfully assisted clients of the firm on occasional plaintiff matters. In late 2003, Benton and his client achieved a State record premises liability jury verdict and subsequent seven-figure settlement in a hotly disputed premises liability case. Benton was admitted to practice in Colorado in 1999, and in Texas in 1992. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Tenth Circuits, and the United States District Courts for the District of Colorado, and the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law in 1992, and his Bachelor of Arts from Austin College in 1989. |
