Mr. Welch is an associate in the Litigation department and resident in the Boston office.
Mr. Welch's litigation practice focuses on intellectual property litigation, media law, and general commercial litigation, including bankruptcy litigation. He has defended a maker of optical scanning equipment in a patent infringement suit in New York and a maker of battery and fuel cell testing equipment in a patent infringement suit in Chicago. He has also successfully represented various media outlets in both defamation actions and public access matters. Mr. Welch has also represented physicians in cases before the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine and in both federal and state courts.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Welch worked as a staff writer and freelance journalist for various local, regional, and national newspapers and magazines. He was a contributing legal reporter to American Indian Report for five years and has significant knowledge of the legal issues pertaining to American Indian sovereignty and the Federal trust relationship with American Indian tribes.
