Benjamin S. Feingold was President of Worldwide Home Entertainment, Digital Distribution and Acquisitions for Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. He left the company in September 2006 after an 18 year career. He held various positions during his tenure, including President, Business and Operations, for the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group from 2000 through 2002, President of Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment from February 1994 through his remaining tenure at Sony and Senior Vice President of Corporate Development from 1989 through 1994. Mr. Feingold is acknowledged as one of the leading architects of the successful worldwide launch of the DVD (digital versatile disc) format in conjunction with Sony, Toshiba and Warner Bros. He was also involved in setting specifications for the Blu Ray disc format (high definition) and of architecting all key Sony deals for digital downloading, including recent deals with Amazon, AOL and discussions with Apple. Mr. Feingold was co-recipient of the Video Software Dealers Association’s 2000 Person of the Year Award for his pivotal role in the worldwide launch of the DVD format and recipient of the Video Business Hall of Fame Award in 2005. Before joining SPE, Mr. Feingold was a corporate securities and mergers and acquisitions associate with the New York law film Kaye Scholer Fierman Hays & Handler, during which time he was involved in numerous mergers and acquisitions, public and private debt and equity financings, leveraged buyouts and tender offers. A magna cum laude graduate of Brandeis University, Mr. Feingold received his law degree at the Hastings College of Law, University of California, and his M. Sc. in Economics from the London School of Economics. |
