Redshirted his first year at Duke and then went on to play three seasons with the Blue Devils (2003-05).
After earning his degree in African American Studies from Duke, transferred to Delaware for his final season of eligibility.
Was the first tight end in Duke history to lead the team in receptions two years in a row (2004-05).
Led all Division I-AA tight ends in receiving in his senior year for the Blue Hens.
After becoming Delaware’s first-ever first-team All-America selection, he also became the school’s first player ever invited to the Hula Bowl as well as the only Division 1-AA player invited in 2007.
College Career:
After four seasons at Duke University where he appeared in 31 games (15 starts) and totaled 79 catches for 781 yards and two touchdowns, Patrick transferred to the University of Delaware for his final college season in 2006. He went on to lead Division I-AA tight ends in receiving with 64 catches for 639 yards and six touchdowns and was named a first-team All-America.
2006: First-team All-America selection and rated the best tight end prospect in the NCAA Division 1-AA ranks by The NFL Draft Report in his senior season an All-Atlantic Ten Conference first-team pick, led all Division 1-AA tight ends in receptions (5.8 rpg, 16th overall) and yardage (58.1) per game semi-finalist for the John Mackey Award given to the nation’s top tight end broke the school season-record for tight ends and became only the second tight end in school history to lead the team as he caught 64 passes for 639 yards (10.0 avg) and six touchdowns his 64 receptions broke the school tight end record first set by Brian Adam (48, 1977) and also ranks fourth overall on Delaware’s single season record list, surpassed only by Eddie Conti (91, 1998), David Boler (68, 2004) and Justin Long (65, 2004).
2005: The team captain started eight of 10 games at Duke, leading the Blue Devils for the second consecutive season with 30 receptions for 252 yards (8.4 avg.) became the first tight end in school history to lead the team in receiving twice in a career was nominated for the John Mackey Award, given to the top tight end in college football.
2004: Named the team’s Outstanding Tight End also serving as offensive captain saw action in 11 games, including six starts ... became only the third tight end in the last thirty seasons to lead the team in receiving, catching 32 passes for 311 yards (9.7 avg.) and one touchdown, joining Bill Khayat (1994) and Mike Hart (2000) was the only Duke player to catch at least one pass in every game.
2003: Freshman All-American third-team and Freshman All-Atlantic Coast Conference first-team selection by The Sporting News appeared in 10 games with one start for the Blue Devils ... finished fifth on the team with 17 receptions for 218 yards (12.8 avg.) and one touchdown.
2002: Redshirted as a freshman, performing on the scout team.

Attended Jenkins (Savannah, GA) High School where he was one of the nation’s top-rated tight ends the Georgia High School Coaches Association named him the Southeast Georgia Player of the Year in 2001, as he also garnered All-City and All-Southeast Region accolades from Super Prep the team’s Most Valuable Player competed as a quarterback, tight end, linebacker and punter in 2001 led the team in passing yards, receptions and tackles that season also lettered in baseball and basketball. |
