Bart de Jong is vice president, Technology, for Lyondell Chemical Company. Most recently, he was vice president and president, Millennium Inorganic Chemicals (previously a wholly owned subsidiary of Lyondell). In May 2002, he was appointed vice president, Corporate Development, for Lyondell and was responsible for strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining Lyondell in 2001 as director, Business Analysis and Planning, de Jong was chief financial officer of eLink Commerce, Inc., an early stage information technology company. From 1995 to 2000, he held a variety of finance and business development positions with Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO), including vice president, Finance, in ARCO’s corporate headquarters in Los Angeles.
De Jong’s extensive global experience in the petroleum and chemical industries also includes a variety of finance and planning positions with ARCO Chemical Company (1988-1995) and Exxon Corporation (1984-1988). He began his career as an auditor with KPMG in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
A native of The Netherlands, de Jong earned a Doctorandus Bedrijfseconomie, the equivalent of a Master of Science degree, from Erasmus University in Rotterdam. He also holds the equivalent of Certified Public Accountant status and is a member of the Dutch Institute of Certified Public Accountants. |
