Bart C. Koontz is the co-founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Koontz McCombs, LLC. He is responsible for the company's strategic direction, long-term planning, as well as the development and implementation of the company's overall investment strategy. Red McCombs and Bart C. Koontz formed Koontz McCombs in May of 1997 to pursue the development and acquisition of income-producing properties throughout the State of Texas. Mr. Koontz has developed a wide variety of property types including value and luxury Class "A" office buildings, industrial and flex service centers, retail and power centers, single tenant build-to-suits, and multifamily.
Prior to founding Koontz McCombs, LLC, Mr. Koontz was President and stockholder of HK Partners, Inc. HK Partners, a commercial real estate developer specializing in large retail properties, developed projects for many national retail chains, including Target, Circuit City, Office Max, Office Depot, Petsmart, Toys R Us, and KMart. From 1993 to 1997, HK Partners developed in excess of 1,000,000 square feet of commercial space throughout Texas.
From 1983 to 1993, Mr. Koontz served as Senior Vice President for Concord Corporation in San Antonio, Texas. During his tenure at Concord, he was responsible for the conception, development and leasing of the 460,000 square foot Las Tiendas Plaza shopping center in McAllen, Texas, and the 253,000 square foot Concord Plaza office development in San Antonio. Mr. Koontz also was involved in the day-to-day operations regarding the asset management of Concord's $200 million real estate portfolio that stretched over five southern states.
Prior to 1983, Mr. Koontz was with Cushman and Wakefield in the Dallas and San Antonio area and was active in real estate brokerage and leasing of office, and industrial properties. Mr. Koontz received a Bachelor of Arts, History from Southwestern University at Georgetown, Texas. He holds a Texas Real Estate Broker's License.
