Barry Brower is a senior managing director in the FTI Forensic and Litigation Consulting practice based in the Washington DC area. Mr. Brower has more than 30 years of experience in litigation support, including scheduling analysis, cost analysis, claims and damages calculations. He has provided project management, construction cost and engineering advisory services, construction industry consulting including schedule delay assessment, and litigation support services to both public and private clients. He has served as an expert witness on litigation and commercial dispute matters related to both scheduling and damages assessments and construction management on more than 100 matters.
Mr. Brower has experience with complex analyses of construction projects. He has worked on more than 1500 projects involving the assessment of schedule delays and the quantification of damages in disputes involving multiple parties including owners, utilities, contractors, subcontractors, sureties and attorneys. He has prepared and analyzed CPM schedules, project delays and schedule acceleration, labor and equipment productivity, labor escalation, labor overtime, extended equipment costs, general conditions costs and office overhead, lost profits, consequential damages and interest calculations on a variety of claims and litigation matters. Significantly, he has also participated in these functions during the evolvement of the construction project. Finally, he has conducted and participated in numerous speaking engagements.
Prior to FTI, Mr. Brower had positions with major general contractors in such capacities as schedule engineer, cost engineer, project engineer and project manager on major construction projects. Thereafter, he was a principal in a consulting firm since the late 1970’s engaged in claims and change order analyses. Mr. Brower’s experience spans engagements related to the construction of highways, power plants, bridges, wastewater treatment plants, mass transit, high-rise construction, health care facilities, shopping centers and paper and pulp mills. These projects were located throughout North America in addition to numerous projects located overseas.
Mr. Brower has a B.S. in civil engineering from Newark College of Engineering of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (in 1971) and a Masters degree in engineering management with an emphasis in construction management from George Washington University. In addition, Mr. Brower did course study in accounting in the graduate division of American University. Mr. Brower has also served as an adjunct professor for ten (10) years in the engineering graduate division of The George Washington University teaching such courses as engineering management and accounting and finance for engineers. |
