Barry Burland is an associate in Milbank's London office. Barry joined Milbank's Global Finance Group in New York in August 1997. Before moving to London, he also worked in the firm's Hong Kong office.
Barry specialises in a range of project finance, corporate finance transactions (including acquisition finance, bank and capital markets financings, structured finance and private equity transactions) and restructurings. He has worked on major transactions in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the United States, Latin America and Asia. Among his recent transactions are representing the lenders to the Shuaibah III IWPP project financing in Saudi Arabia and representing the sponsors in the financing for the purchase and expansion of the Al Hidd IWPP in Bahrain. His experience also includes financings of coal and gas-fired power plants, mines and chemical factories and the restructuring and subsequent refinancing of one of the UK's largest power plants. His clients have included project sponsors, global commercial and investment banks, export credit agencies and businesses in fields ranging from primary industries through high technology to finance.
A 1991 cum laude graduate of Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities. Barry graduated in 1997 from Columbia University School of Law in New York City, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar. |
