Experience:
Barry Machlin is co-Chair of Mayer Brown's Global Projects group and concentrates on international and domestic project finance and development transactions and infrastructure transactions of all types. He represents financial institutions, multilateral agencies, export credit agencies, sponsors and companies in such transactions spanning a wide range of sectors, including power (coal and gas-fired, wind and other renewables), oil and gas (pipelnes, petrochemical and other facilities), ports, telecom, health care and other areas. Barry also represents financial institutions in syndicated lending transactions; sovereigns, state-owned enterprises and investors in privatization matters; and various parties in cross-border investment and financial transactions.
Barry was named by the American Lawyer as its 2007 "Dealmaker of the Year" in Project Finance for his work as leader of a team representing the Panama Canal Authority on the Panama Canal Expansion Project, one of the world's most significant infrastructure projects. Barry also has been regularly listed in Chambers USA Leading Lawyers and Chambers Global Guide to the World's Leading Lawyers (Project Finance), in the Euromoney Guide to the World's Leading Project Finance Lawyers, and in the International Who's Who of Project Finance Lawyers. He was named to The Best Lawyers in America, was named a "Super Lawyer" in both Washington, DC and Illinois, and was recommended by Legal Media Group's "Expert Series" as one of the world's leading lawyers in Project Finance.
