Barrey has over 30 years experience in the financial and banking areas and is skilled in assessing requirements, determining priorities, analyzing course of action and making adjustments for peak efficiency and profitability.
Prior to joining Focus Management Group, Barrey was the President and COO of Coast Business Credit, where he supervised a $1B loan portfolio and managed over 100 professionals in the audit, underwriting, loan portfolio and marketing departments.
In other senior level roles, Barrey served as Vice President for National City Bank, where he was responsible for all aspects of lending and monitoring of its loan portfolios. Barrey opened a loan production office for Fleet National Bank covering a five state territory for the bank. He was a Team Leader and Vice President with Bank One, managing five commercial lenders and responsible for a $500M loan portfolio. He was also a Senior Vice President, National Sales Manager of Fremont Financial Corporation, where he led a staff of 45 professionals located in various regions nationwide.
Prior to entering the financial services industry, Barrey was in the United States Army, where he was awarded the Bronze Star (with "V" device), the Silver Star and three Purple Hearts. A decorated Vietnam Veteran, Barrey is a lifetime member of The Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Barrey has been a member of the Turnaround Management Association since 1993. He belongs to the Education Foundation of the Commercial Finance Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute and is a former board member of the Association for Corporate Growth and the CFCC.
Barrey holds an MBA from Case Western Reserve College and a BA from Loyola University.
