The Right Honourable the Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean is a senior member of the House of Lords. She began her career in the civil service but became a full time trade union official in 1977. Created a life peer in 1996 she served as a Minister in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office the Ministry of Defence and the Department of Trade and Industry and was Minister of State for the Middle East and Deputy Leader of the House of Lords until she resigned from the Government on 5 May 2005. She is married with one son. Her interests are friends family gardening and reading. |
