Barbara Kerner is a Managing Director in the In-House Practice Group of Major, Lindsey & Africa’s New York office. Barbara has worked exclusively in the legal search business for almost 25 years, having launched and managed her own legal search firm for many of those years. She has successfully placed partners, associates and in-house counsel throughout her career. Barbara offers an ideal mix of experience, knowledge and judgment and inspires confidence in her clients as evidenced by her long - term relationships and her substantial amount of repeat business. Barbara’s success lies in her significant understanding of the marketplace and her keen judgment in matching candidates with clients.
Barbara’s specialty is the placement of General Counsel and Senior level attorneys in corporate legal departments whether it is for a company’s first general counsel or a replacement for one who is retiring. Barbara has recently completed retained general counsel searches for clients such as Coty, Inc., Town Sports International, Aveta, Inc., C.R. Bard, Inc., United Media (division of The E. W. Scripps Company), SCA North America, Inc., Mercator Software and Phillips Auctioneers (division of LVMH). She has also partnered with global corporations to place attorneys at all levels within their legal departments. Her successful results include placements into companies such as MasterCard International, Inc., Dun & Bradstreet, Inc., Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Omnicom, A&E Television Networks, Altria Group, GSC Partners, Moody’s Corporation, International Paper, and Marsh & McLennan.
Barbara earned her B.A. cum laude, with distinction, in Education from Brooklyn College and her M.S. with honors from Brooklyn College. She also earned an advanced Certificate in Business Management from Adelphi University.
Barbara was one of the founding members of the National Association of Legal Search Consultants (NALSC), an organization committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in the legal search industry. She and her husband reside in New York City; she is an avid tennis player and enjoys film, theatre and travel. |
