Barbara J. Beck is Executive Vice President and Managing Director - EMEA Operations a position she has held since 1 January 2006. In this position she is responsible for overseeing the EMEA region that includes Europe (excluding France and its satellite operations) the Middle East and Africa.
Beck joined Manpower in January 2002 as Executive Vice President of U.S. and Canadian Operations. In this role Beck oversaw all aspects of Manpower’s $3 billion North American business unit which includes over 1 100 field offices that employ over half a million temporary employees each year within both the staffing and professional industry sectors. Major brands within the business unit include Manpower and Manpower Professional.
Prior to joining Manpower Beck was an area vice president and general manager of United States - West for Sprint a $23 billion global communications company. Her 15-year tenure at Sprint included leadership of technical sales and applications engineering business development customer service operations technical support and program management.
As a strong proponent of community involvement Beck is very active in a number of Milwaukee organizations. She is on the board of trustees for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee and co-chaired the 2003 fundraising campaign. She is chairman-elect for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee and is co-chair of The Women's Initiative the United Way of Greater Milwaukee's women's leadership council focused on philanthropy.
She is a member of the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee School of Business Advisory Council and was recognized as a 2003 Women of Influence recipient from the Milwaukee Business Journal for her outstanding corporate executive leadership.
Beck received her bachelor of science degree with honors from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1982 and has completed executive leadership programs at INSEAD Fontainebleau France and the University of Chicago Chicago Illinois. |
